Nate Burns is currently Managing Director, Portfolio Manager and Head of Healthcare at Highland Capital Management, a global alternative investment manager based in Dallas, TX.  Nate joined Highland in 2014 as a Director on the healthcare absolute return investment team, and assumed expanded responsibilities including Portfolio Manager of the Nexpoint Capital Healthcare BDC, Portfolio Manager of the Highland Long-Short Healthcare Fund, and Key Man of the Stonebridge-Highland Healthcare Private Equity Fund.  Prior to joining Highland, Nate was a member of the investment team at Ripplewood Holdings, where he led control-oriented leveraged recapitalizations and growth equity investments across the healthcare, technology and consumer products industries.  Nate began his career as an Analyst in the Global Technology Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Lehman Brothers.  He received a B.S. in Analytical Finance and Economics, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Wake Forest University and an MBA, with Dean’s Honors and Distinction, from Columbia Business School.  Nate has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
