The Caris Precision Oncology Alliance Welcomes University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center

University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center joins Caris’ extensive network of leading cancer institutions and research consortia committed to improving patient outcomes through innovations in precision medicine

IRVING, Texas, July 19, 2023Caris Life Sciences® (Caris), the leading molecular science and technology company actively developing and delivering innovative solutions to revolutionize healthcare, announced today that University Hospitals (UH) Seidman Cancer Center has joined the Caris Precision Oncology Alliance™ (POA). The POA is a growing network of leading cancer centers and research consortia across the globe that collaborate to advance precision oncology and biomarker-driven research, with its members working together to establish and optimize standards of care for molecular testing through innovative research to improve clinical outcomes for cancer patients. POA members are uniquely positioned to leverage Caris’ highly sophisticated AI bioinformatics and machine learning capabilities across the company’s massive clinico-genomic database to enable innovative research to improve clinical outcomes for cancer patients.

UH Seidman Cancer Center is the only freestanding cancer hospital in Northeast Ohio, with clinicians and staff dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer while researching new and innovative treatment options through clinical trials. UH Seidman Cancer Center is part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University, one of 53 comprehensive cancer centers in the country. UH Seidman specialists make up 14 cancer-specific teams focused on determining integrated care plans tailored to patient’s needs.

“The collective power wrought by combining artificial intelligence (AI) with the brightest oncologic minds and the most extensive cancer profiling database is sure to lead to breakthroughs in cancer care. The academic faculty at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center are thrilled to join forces with the Caris Precision Oncology Alliance. This collaborative effort solidifies our reputation as one of the leading cancer research institutions in the world,” said Theodoros Teknos, M.D., President and Scientific Director, UH Seidman Cancer Center and the Jane and Lee Seidman Chair in Cancer Innovation.

“It is a pleasure to welcome University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center to the growing Caris Precision Oncology Alliance network,” said Chadi Nabhan, M.D., MBA, FACP, Chairman of the POA. “The researchers, clinicians, and leaders of Seidman Cancer Center share the same vision of the Caris Precision Oncology Alliance, to improve the outcomes of all patients diagnosed with cancer through cutting-edge precision oncology research.”

The Caris Precision Oncology Alliance includes 87 cancer centers, academic institutions, research consortia and healthcare systems. These institutions have early access to the extensive database and artificial intelligence platform within Caris to establish evidence-based standards for cancer profiling and molecular testing in oncology. By leveraging the comprehensive genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic profiling available through Caris molecular profiling, Caris seeks to provide this network with the ability to prioritize therapeutic options and determine which clinical trial opportunities may benefit their patients. POA members are also able to integrate with a growing portfolio of biomarker-directed trials sponsored by biopharma. Additionally, POA member institutions have access to the most comprehensive clinico-genomic database in the industry, which includes matched molecular and clinical outcomes data from hundreds of thousands of cancer patients, covering over 1 million data points per patient.
