Comprehensive Molecular Insight to Guide Cancer Care

Precision Starts at the Tissue Level

The Caris Precision Medicine Tissue Laboratory is a high-throughput molecular diagnostics facility designed to maximize clinical insight from every tumor sample. At its core is MI Cancer Seek®, the first Whole Exome (WES) and Whole Transcriptome Sequencing (WTS)  based assay with FDA-approved companion diagnostic claims, enabling comprehensive genomic and transcriptomic profiling in oncology.

Caris enhances tissue utilization by cutting sections at 4 microns, enabling more analytical material from small specimens compared to standard approaches. Slides undergo H&E staining, digital scanning and expert pathology review to confirm tumor content and guide downstream testing.

A key differentiator is microdissection, where tumor cells are precisely isolated from surrounding normal tissue, improving sequencing sensitivity and increasing the likelihood of identifying actionable alterations.

The laboratory integrates high-volume immunohistochemistry with next-generation sequencing to deliver a complete molecular profile. Using proprietary extraction technology, Caris analyzes DNA and RNA simultaneously, followed by WES and WTS and AI-driven interpretation.

This integrated approach enables:

  • Generation of large-scale molecular data to support clinical decision-making and research.
  • Identification of actionable biomarkers across DNA, RNA and protein.
  • Improved detection sensitivity through tumor enrichment and dual analyte analysis.
  • Expanded therapeutic options, including eligibility for targeted and immunotherapies.

By combining advanced laboratory processes, comprehensive sequencing and AI-driven analytics, the Caris Tissue Lab supports more informed treatment decisions and helps improve outcomes for patients with cancer.
