James Hamrick, MD, MPH

Chairman, Caris Precision Oncology Alliance

James Hamrick, MD, MPH, serves as the Chairman of the Caris Precision Oncology Alliance™ (Caris POA) at Caris Life Sciences, a role he assumed in December 2024. In this position, Dr. Hamrick leads a global network of top cancer centers and research institutions dedicated to advancing precision oncology and biomarker-driven research. He collaborates closely with alliance members to establish and refine standards of care for molecular testing, driving innovative research aimed at improving clinical outcomes for cancer patients.

Prior to joining Caris, Dr. Hamrick was Vice President of Clinical Oncology at Flatiron Health, where he directed clinical strategy and product development for community oncologists. He also served as Chief of Medical Oncology and Hematology at Kaiser Permanente Georgia and practiced at Georgia Cancer Specialists.

Board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology, Dr. Hamrick earned his MD and MPH in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. He currently serves on the board of the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (CORE) and has co-authored numerous publications and patents in cancer research.
