The Caris Life Sciences Letter of Intent process empowers members of the Caris Precision Oncology Alliance® (POA®) to advance innovative, investigator-initiated research. The program is open to academic and community-based physicians and researchers worldwide who are interested in pursuing independent scientific studies which impact patient care and/or contribute to filling a gap in the biological knowledge of cancer.
Participation begins with submission of an inquiry describing the proposed research concept. Inquiries are evaluated based on data availability, test-ability of the hypothesis and lack of overlap with other approved projects. Selected investigators may be invited to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) full research proposal for further review. Submission of an LOI proposal does not guarantee approval, and all proposals are assessed by the Caris Scientific Review Committee.
Caris is committed to supporting high-quality research and expects all approved studies to result in publication. Any support is contingent upon the successful execution of a research agreement between both parties.
Important Information Regarding ASCO Annual 2027
The Caris deadline for submitting Research Proposal Inquiries for ASCO Annual 2027 abstracts is approaching. To ensure POA members have sufficient time to utilize Caris CODEai data in their abstracts, we want to highlight the following key deadlines and requirements. Please review the ASCO 2027 LOI Submission Guidance process and the Letter of Intent submission process for complete details.
Any project wishing to use Caris data in an ASCO 2027 abstract MUST follow these steps:
- Submit a hypothesis-driven Research Proposal Inquiry by September 1, 2026.
Selected inquiries may be invited to submit a full Letter of Intent (LOI) for further review.- Research Proposal Inquiries submitted after September 1, 2026, will not be reviewed until late February 2027.
- If requested, provide background slides by October 1, 2026.
- If the project receives scientific endorsement, a fully executed contract must be in place by January 8, 2027.
As with all research organizations, our resources are finite. Here are some tips to increase the chance of your proposal to be approved.
Research that we prioritize:
- Hypothesis-driven studies
- Strong data or scientific foundations
- Innovative and translational relevance
Common reasons for rejection:
- Limited data availability in the Caris database for your proposed research question.
- Overlap with ongoing or completed Caris projects.
- Broad Exploratory Descriptive studies without testable hypotheses.
Upon submission, the Caris research team will conduct an initial review and contact you within three business days regarding the outcome and any next steps. For approved inquiries, a link to proceed with the full proposal submission will be provided.
Please visit our LOI resource page for more details.
