Peter M. Castleman is a private company investor and entrepreneur. He is actively involved with about a dozen private companies where he is a significant owner through his family office which he established in 2006.

Mr. Castleman was the former chairman and managing partner of J. H. Whitney & Co., LLC, the country’s first venture capital firm, where he oversaw all the firm’s activities including the private equity investing business. Mr. Castleman was with J. H. Whitney for 20 years and retired in 2006.

Prior to joining Whitney in 1987, Mr. Castleman was with Morgan Stanley & Co. in their leveraged buyout investment group. Mr. Castleman started his career at J.P. Morgan & Co., Inc., where he was an international banking officer.

Mr. Castleman received his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar, and he was a summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa and honors in economics graduate from Duke University in 1979. He also studied at Oxford University and taught economics at Harvard University.

He currently serves on the boards of a number of private companies.
