The Bisgrove Study
The Bisgrove Study demonstrated the promise of Caris Target Now®. The Bisgrove Study participants were chosen because they experienced growth of their tumors while undergoing anywhere from two to thirteen previous cancer treatments—including standard chemotherapy. Caris Target Now was used to identify biomarkers in these difficult-to-treat patients. For some of the study participants, this led to customized treatment options.
The study participants experienced varying levels of improvement. In breast cancer the period of progression-free survival increased in 44 percent of the patients who followed therapy outlined by Caris Target Now. In colorectal cancer the improvement was seen in 38 percent. In ovarian cancer the improvement was seen in 20 percent and for patients with miscellaneous cancers improvement was seen in 16 percent.
The results are just the first in a series of clinical studies to support the use of Caris Target Now in selecting cancer treatment options.
The Bisgrove Study was presented by Dr. Daniel Von Hoff* of Scottsdale Healthcare at the 100th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) in 2009.
